Sun Siyam Olhuveli Maldives has been crowned the Resort League 2026 South Malé Zone Champion after completing a remarkable comeback campaign with a dramatic victory over Hard Rock Hotel Maldives in the final held at the resort on September 3.
The championship brought an exciting conclusion to the South Malé Zone competition, which was hosted at Sun Siyam Olhuveli for the first time. Teams, officials, supporters and football enthusiasts from across the region gathered at the resort for the tournament, creating an energetic sporting atmosphere while highlighting the strong sense of community that continues to develop across the Maldivian tourism industry.

Olhuveli responded quickly. Shiau reduced the deficit before Sinaan scored the equaliser, bringing the match level at 2–2 and restoring momentum to the home team. Neither side was able to find a winning goal before the end of regulation time, sending the championship into a penalty shoot-out.
Goalkeeper Sumaid played a decisive role during the penalties, producing important saves as Olhuveli secured a 3–2 shoot-out victory. The result sparked celebrations across the resort as players, coaches, team members and supporters gathered to mark the championship success on home ground.
The victory represents Sun Siyam Olhuveli’s second South Malé Zone championship in three years, reinforcing the resort team’s growing record in the competition and underlining the commitment of its players and supporting team members.
