dusitD2 Feydhoo Maldives has marked its first anniversary with a special celebration highlighting Maldivian culinary heritage, locally sourced produce and the partnerships that have supported the resort throughout its first year of operations.

Held under the theme “WE ARE 1”, the anniversary event brought together sales partners, members of the media, VIP guests, embassy representatives and friends of the resort, reflecting the strong relationships dusitD2 Feydhoo Maldives has developed since opening its doors. The gathering provided an opportunity to celebrate the resort’s progress while recognising the contribution of employees, partners and stakeholders who have played an important role in establishing the property within the Maldives’ internationally renowned tourism industry.

Jean-Louis Ripoche, Area General Manager, and Yogeswaran Veerasamy, General Manager of dusitD2 Feydhoo Maldives, addressed guests during the evening and reflected on the resort’s journey during its inaugural year. Their remarks highlighted the collective contribution of the resort team and its partners, as well as the importance of building meaningful connections with the Maldives and incorporating local identity into the guest experience.

A central feature of the anniversary programme was “Flavours of the Maldives – A Culinary Journey Through Our Islands’ Heritage”, a specially curated dining experience led by Maldivian Executive Chef Mohamed Adhil together with six fellow Maldivian chefs. The culinary presentation placed Maldivian talent, ingredients and island traditions at the heart of the celebration, showcasing the depth and diversity of the country’s food heritage through contemporary fine-dining techniques.

Each chef presented a course featuring ingredients sourced from different islands across the Maldives, bringing together traditional flavours and modern culinary presentation. The menu featured millet from Vaikaradhoo, rose apple from Feevah, squid from Mathiveri, cage-free brown eggs from Theefaridhoo, spider conch from Huraa, rabbit fish from Addu Atoll and locally grown muskmelon from Maafunafaru.

By sourcing produce from communities across the archipelago, the anniversary celebration also demonstrated the opportunities for stronger connections between the tourism sector and local producers. Such partnerships can contribute to broader participation in the tourism economy while giving international visitors greater exposure to authentic Maldivian ingredients, culinary traditions and island communities.

The resort’s focus on Maldivian chefs and locally sourced ingredients further reflects the growing emphasis within the country’s tourism industry on incorporating local culture and talent into high-quality hospitality experiences. For a destination recognised globally for its premium tourism offering, initiatives that connect resorts with Maldivian communities, producers and professionals add greater depth to the visitor experience while supporting the Government’s broader efforts to increase the economic benefits generated by tourism across different sectors and communities.

Located in the Maldives, dusitD2 Feydhoo Maldives combines the international hospitality standards associated with the Dusit brand with experiences inspired by the character and culture of the destination. During its first year, the resort has continued developing its position within the country’s competitive hospitality market while strengthening relationships with travel industry partners, media representatives and other stakeholders.

The first-anniversary programme concluded with music and entertainment, extending the “WE ARE 1” celebration beyond the culinary experience and providing guests with an evening centred on hospitality, partnership and Maldivian identity.

As dusitD2 Feydhoo Maldives enters its second year of operations, the anniversary highlights the resort’s commitment to building its hospitality offering around local connections alongside international service standards. Its emphasis on Maldivian culinary traditions, home-grown professional talent and ingredients sourced from islands across the country represents a positive example of how resort tourism can create stronger linkages with the wider Maldivian economy.

The milestone comes as the Maldives continues to strengthen its position as one of the world’s leading tourism destinations, supported by continued government efforts to expand tourism opportunities, encourage investment and ensure that the benefits of the industry reach communities and businesses throughout the archipelago. The resort’s first year and its focus on local partnerships demonstrate how international hospitality brands can contribute to this direction while presenting the Maldives’ distinctive culture and culinary heritage to travellers from around the world.
