His Royal Highness Prince Dr Mansour bin Mutaib bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Minister of State and Member of the Cabinet of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at the President’s Office on Sunday, 26 July 2026.
His Royal Highness was accorded a ceremonial welcome upon his arrival in Malé, reflecting the close friendship, mutual respect and longstanding brotherly relations between the Maldives and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Prince Dr Mansour is visiting the Maldives as the Guest of Honour for the official celebrations marking the 61st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Maldives. He is attending the national celebrations on behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, following an invitation extended by President Dr Muizzu.
During the meeting, President Dr Muizzu warmly welcomed His Royal Highness and expressed his sincere appreciation to the leadership of Saudi Arabia for accepting the invitation to participate in the Maldives’ Independence Day celebrations. The participation of such a distinguished representative of the Saudi leadership added considerable significance to the national occasion and reaffirmed the enduring strength of relations between the two countries.
The President also conveyed his gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s continued assistance and cooperation in supporting the development and welfare of the Maldives. He particularly acknowledged the Makkah Route Initiative, which has significantly improved and simplified the travel experience of Maldivian Hajj pilgrims by facilitating immigration and other departure procedures before their arrival in Saudi Arabia.
The initiative has provided Maldivian pilgrims with greater convenience, efficiency and comfort during their sacred journey, demonstrating the Saudi Government’s continued commitment to serving pilgrims from around the world. President Dr Muizzu’s appreciation reflected the importance the Government of Maldives attaches to initiatives that improve the welfare of Maldivian citizens and strengthen religious and people-to-people connections between the two nations.
His Royal Highness Prince Dr Mansour emphasised the special importance that the Saudi leadership has consistently attached to the development, prosperity and welfare of the Maldives. He reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to maintaining its close relationship with the Maldives and supporting cooperation that delivers meaningful benefits to both countries and their peoples.
The discussions centred on further strengthening the longstanding brotherly bond between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia, which is founded on shared Islamic faith, mutual respect, common values and a history of constructive diplomatic engagement. Both sides highlighted the importance of maintaining regular high-level exchanges and expanding cooperation across areas of shared national interest.
President Dr Muizzu and His Royal Highness also discussed opportunities to strengthen economic relations, particularly through greater cooperation in trade and investment. The discussions reflected the Maldives Government’s commitment to building productive international partnerships that support economic diversification, infrastructure development, employment creation and sustainable national growth.
Saudi Arabia remains an important development and diplomatic partner of the Maldives, with cooperation extending across religious affairs, development financing, infrastructure, education, tourism and humanitarian assistance. The Maldives Government continues to welcome Saudi participation in areas that contribute to the country’s long-term development priorities and provide opportunities for mutually beneficial investment.
