Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa has officially launched the second annual Maldives Hideaway Resort Run 2026, with the main race scheduled for 18 September 2026 as part of a wider World Wellness Weekend programme taking place from 17 to 20 September 2026 on the natural island of Dhonakulhi in Haa Alifu Atoll. Set within one of the Maldives’ most scenic luxury resort environments, the event brings together destination running, wellness, fitness, and island-inspired lifestyle experiences, reflecting the growing international appeal of the Maldives as a destination that offers far more than a traditional beach holiday.

The official launch and partnership signing ceremony was held at Muraka Maalam, Maagiri Hotel in Malé, where key partners gathered to formalise their support for Maldives Hideaway Resort Run 2026. During the ceremony, organisers unveiled the event’s branding theme, logo, launch video, and official running jersey, all inspired by the lush tropical vegetation, natural island landscape, and flora and fauna of Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa. Guests were also introduced to the scenic race routes, which have been carefully designed to showcase the resort’s pristine beaches, peaceful pathways, and tranquil surroundings. The course spans three distinct terrains, including the North Point beach, island trails, and the Deluxe Water Villa jetty, offering participants a race experience that is both visually memorable and physically engaging.

The initiative has received the endorsement of Visit Maldives and is being delivered in partnership with TFG as race partner, with race consultation, registration, timing, and bib services powered by TFG Races. Maldivian has joined as transport partner, Coral Glass as content partner, and Sporting Vacanze as agent partner. The collaboration demonstrates strong support from tourism, aviation, media, sports, and lifestyle stakeholders, underlining a shared commitment to strengthening wellness tourism and expanding the Maldives’ global appeal through innovative event experiences.

This year’s edition of the Maldives Hideaway Resort Run will feature two race categories, a 10K Challenge and a 5K Fun Run, welcoming both experienced runners and recreational participants. The 5K route will consist of one lap of the resort’s scenic course, while the 10K category will complete two laps. Participants will receive an officially timed race bib powered by TFG Races, a partner goodie bag, and the Flora & Fauna Greenery Run T-shirt created for the event. Trophies will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in both the 5K and 10K categories, adding a competitive dimension to a weekend designed to celebrate fitness, wellbeing, and connection with nature.

Beyond the race, the World Wellness Weekend programme will offer a curated selection of activities designed to enrich the overall guest experience throughout the event period. These will include shakeout runs, stretching sessions, fitness clinics, group workouts, sound bath experiences by Naga Healing, wellness experiences, and evening entertainment. The programme has been planned to create a balanced and enjoyable atmosphere centred on movement, recovery, connection, and celebration, allowing participants to experience the resort not only as a race destination but also as a setting for renewal and wellbeing.

Speaking at the launch, Mohamed Muzaffar Ahmed, Business Development Manager of Lily Hotels, said the 2026 edition builds on the success of the inaugural event held in 2025. He noted that with the continued endorsement of Visit Maldives and the support of event partners, the initiative reflects the growing opportunity to position the Maldives as a destination for luxury wellness, sports, and active travel. He also stated that the long-term ambition is to develop the Maldives Hideaway Resort Run into one of the country’s leading luxury destination running events, offering participants an experience that is distinctive to the Maldives and unmatched in its natural setting.

At the ceremony, Managing Director and CEO of Visit Maldives, Ibrahim Shiuree, highlighted the importance of events such as the Maldives Hideaway Resort Run in encouraging greater participation in sports tourism while diversifying demand for the Maldives as a travel destination. He emphasised that initiatives of this nature contribute significantly to positioning the Maldives not only as one of the world’s leading luxury holiday destinations, but also as an emerging destination for sports, wellness, and active travel. He commended the work behind the event and stressed the value of continuing such experiences to further strengthen the Maldives’ competitiveness in the global travel market.
