Visit Maldives, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade, is presenting the Maldives at the 10th China-South Asia Expo 2026, being held from 11 to 16 June at the Dianchi International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China. The participation reflects a coordinated national effort to strengthen the Maldives’ profile in one of Asia’s most significant trade and consumer exhibition platforms, while also creating new opportunities for Maldivian businesses to engage with international audiences. Through the support of the ministry, a strong Maldivian delegation is taking part in the expo, including representatives from the government and exhibitors such as MIFCO, Authentic Maldives, LoveMe, Anbalange, Arena Maldives and Viva Trips.

As one of the region’s largest international exhibitions, the China-South Asia Expo offers the Maldives a highly visible platform to connect with travellers, travel trade professionals, industry partners and media from China and across South Asia. For the Maldives, the event serves not only as a promotional stage for tourism, but also as an avenue to demonstrate the country’s broader commercial and cultural strengths. The participation of both public and private sector representatives highlights a unified approach to promoting the Maldives as a premium destination and a source of high-quality products, authentic experiences and trusted services.

At the centre of the Maldives’ presence is the promotion of the destination’s wide-ranging tourism appeal. Visit Maldives is presenting the country as a destination that welcomes a broad spectrum of travellers, with resort experiences remaining one of its strongest attractions. The Maldives continues to be globally recognised for its exceptional collection of luxury resorts, offering privacy, personalised service, distinctive architecture and world-class hospitality across its islands. These resorts provide visitors with a seamless blend of comfort, exclusivity and natural beauty, making the Maldives especially appealing to honeymooners, families, high-end leisure travellers and those seeking memorable long-stay holidays. From overwater villas and beachfront retreats to wellness-focused escapes, family-friendly accommodations and bespoke guest experiences, the resort segment continues to define the Maldives as one of the world’s most desirable travel destinations.

Beyond luxury, the Maldives is also showcasing the depth and diversity of its accommodation offerings, including boutique properties and local island experiences that give travellers a closer connection to Maldivian life and culture. This broader presentation reinforces the country’s position as a destination with something meaningful for every type of visitor. Marine adventures, island-hopping opportunities, rich heritage and warm hospitality remain central to the Maldives’ international appeal, while the unique geography of the islands continues to distinguish it as a destination of exceptional beauty and exclusivity.

The Maldives pavilion has been designed to create a strong and engaging impression among expo visitors. Featuring vibrant destination visuals, immersive branding elements and dedicated visitor engagement areas, the pavilion offers a welcoming and informative space for attendees to explore what the Maldives has to offer. Promotional materials available in Mandarin help ensure greater accessibility for Chinese visitors, while interactive experiences allow guests to gain a deeper appreciation of the country’s natural scenery, cultural richness and tourism products. The pavilion also serves as an important meeting point for discussions with travel trade professionals and regional stakeholders, helping to strengthen commercial relationships and encourage future partnerships.

The participation of Maldivian businesses adds further depth to the country’s representation at the expo. MIFCO is showcasing premium fisheries products that reflect the Maldives’ reputation for quality seafood and responsible industry standards. Authentic Maldives is promoting locally made products and cultural experiences that reflect the identity and creativity of the islands. LoveMe is presenting locally inspired gifts and souvenirs from Fuvahmulah, offering visitors products with a distinctive Maldivian character. Anbalange is highlighting the craftsmanship and elegance of Maldivian luxury jewellery, while Arena Maldives and Viva Trips are representing the country’s dynamic tourism services sector, promoting travel experiences that enhance the visitor journey across the destination. Together, these exhibitors present a fuller picture of the Maldives as not only a leading tourism destination, but also a country with growing entrepreneurial energy and export potential.

Commenting on the importance of the expo, Visit Maldives CEO and Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree said the China-South Asia Expo provides an excellent opportunity to engage directly with consumers and industry partners from one of the Maldives’ most important regions. He noted that the country’s presence at the event is helping to showcase the unique experiences that make the Maldives a world-class destination, while also supporting Maldivian businesses in reaching new audiences and expanding their presence in key international markets.

China continues to hold strategic importance for the Maldives as a major outbound travel market, and participation in CSAE 2026 forms part of Visit Maldives’ broader efforts to maintain strong market visibility, deepen destination awareness and support visitor growth from Asia. The expo provides timely exposure for the Maldives in front of a broad and influential audience, while reinforcing confidence in the destination’s tourism excellence, business potential and cultural authenticity. With its strong resort portfolio, distinctive experiences and collaborative national presence, the Maldives is using this platform to further strengthen its position among global travellers and regional industry leaders alike.
