Sports Minister Abdulla Rafiu has announced that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has approved the allocation of MVR 1 million in prize money to honor the Maldives’ national football team, winners of the South Asian Super Cup, and the national futsal team, champions of the SAFF Futsal Championship Men’s Division. The incentive will be distributed among both players and officials in recognition of their outstanding performances and collective contribution to these historic achievements.
Speaking through state media PSM, Minister Rafiu confirmed that the President has decided to extend this bonus to all members of the two national teams, underscoring the Government’s commitment to acknowledging excellence in sports and rewarding athletes who bring pride to the nation on the regional stage. The decision reflects a broader policy direction to strengthen sports development and motivate Maldivian athletes to continue striving for higher standards of performance.
The minister further noted that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had previously expressed his intention to award prize money when he met with national team players and officials in September, following their respective accomplishments.
