The Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO), in collaboration with the Maldives Embassy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and with Visit Maldives Corporation as the Official Destination Partner, has announced its participation in Saudi Travel Market (STM) 2026 as the official representative of the Maldives. The exhibition is scheduled to take place from 29 to 31 March 2026 at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and will serve as a key platform to further position the Maldives as a premier luxury and experiential travel destination for the Saudi and wider GCC markets.

Saudi Travel Market is recognised as one of the Kingdom’s leading B2B travel and tourism exhibitions, attracting a high-level audience of buyers, tour operators, travel agents, destination management companies, airlines, and hospitality stakeholders. The event offers a focused environment for establishing new commercial partnerships, reinforcing existing trade relationships, and showcasing destination offerings to decision-makers who shape outbound travel trends across the region. Through its participation, the Maldives aims to deepen engagement with the Saudi market, which continues to demonstrate strong growth potential for premium leisure travel, family-oriented holidays, wellness tourism, and bespoke experiences.

The Maldives’ presence at STM 2026 will highlight the country’s diverse portfolio of world-class resorts, private islands, and luxury hospitality brands that collectively define the destination’s global reputation. From iconic overwater villas and expansive beachfront retreats to secluded private residences and ultra-luxury island hideaways, Maldivian resorts are renowned for delivering personalised service, exceptional comfort, and unparalleled natural beauty. Visitors will be introduced to resorts that cater to a wide range of traveller preferences, including family-friendly properties with dedicated kids’ clubs and multi-bedroom villas, romantic escapes designed for honeymooners and couples, and high-end wellness resorts offering holistic spa, fitness, and wellbeing programmes.

The Maldives’ resort sector continues to evolve with innovative concepts, contemporary architecture, and immersive experiences that blend luxury with sustainability. Many resorts feature signature dining concepts led by internationally acclaimed chefs, underwater and overwater restaurants, curated cultural and marine experiences, and advanced wellness facilities that integrate traditional healing practices with modern therapies. For travellers from Saudi Arabia and the GCC, the destination’s emphasis on privacy, spacious accommodation, halal-friendly services, and tailored lifestyle experiences further enhances its appeal.

MATATO’s role as the official representative of STM for the Maldives underscores the industry’s collective commitment to strengthening trade collaboration and expanding market reach. Working closely with the Maldives Embassy in Saudi Arabia and Visit Maldives Corporation, MATATO will facilitate meaningful engagement between Maldivian tourism stakeholders and regional partners, enabling direct business discussions, product presentations, and destination briefings that support sustainable growth.

Participation in STM 2026 reflects the Maldives’ broader strategy to diversify source markets and reinforce its position as a year-round destination for high-value travellers. By showcasing its distinctive resorts, rich marine environment, and unmatched hospitality standards to a global audience gathered in Riyadh, the Maldives aims to inspire increased travel from Saudi Arabia and the GCC, while reinforcing long-term partnerships that contribute to the continued success of the nation’s tourism industry.
