As the year drew to a close, Sun Siyam Olhuveli celebrated the transition into 2026 with sustainability-led experiences designed to reflect the resort’s lifestyle philosophy, where effortless island living is naturally aligned with community connection and environmental care. On 31 December 2025, guests and team members gathered at Milano Beach on Dream Island for a Coral Planting Experience that turned the final moments of the year into a shared contribution to marine conservation. Guided by the resort’s marine biologist alongside Sun Diving experts, participants placed coral fragments onto a single large coral frame, which was then submerged and planted within the resort’s designated coral garden. Presented as “A New Reef for the New Year,” the initiative brought together visitors and associates around a symbolic act of renewal, encouraging a deeper appreciation of the vibrant marine ecosystem surrounding the island and reinforcing the resort’s commitment to sustaining reef environments that are vital to the Maldives’ natural heritage and tourism appeal.
Earlier in the month, on 21 December 2025, Sun Siyam Olhuveli extended its sustainability engagement beyond the resort to the local island of K. Guraidhoo, collaborating with the Guraidhoo Island Council and community members on a tree planting initiative focused on long-term environmental value and shared responsibility. Working side by side, participants planted 300 young trees across the island, supporting greener public spaces while strengthening community bonds through practical action. The activity reflected the resort’s approach to sustainability as a collaborative effort, emphasizing that lasting impact is achieved when local communities are meaningfully engaged and initiatives are grounded in care, consistency, and mutual respect.
Commenting on the initiatives, Hassan Adil, General Manager of Sun Siyam Olhuveli, said: “At Sun Siyam Olhuveli, sustainability is not a separate initiative, it is embedded in how we live, host, and connect. Closing the year by giving back to both the ocean we care, and our neighbouring community reflects our belief that meaningful hospitality should leave a positive footprint. These experiences bring people together with a shared purpose and create impact that lasts well beyond the festive season.” By closing the year with purpose, the resort reaffirmed its long-term commitment to responsible hospitality, inviting guests to take part in experiences that complement leisure with tangible contributions to environmental stewardship and community well-being, reinforcing the Maldives’ position as a destination where premium travel can align with conscious tourism.
These initiatives form part of Sun Siyam Cares, the group-wide sustainability and social responsibility platform dedicated to environmental conservation, community empowerment, and responsible tourism across all Sun Siyam Resorts. Through Sun Siyam Cares, Sun Siyam Olhuveli continues to translate intention into action by supporting reef restoration beneath the surrounding waters, strengthening green spaces on land, and contributing to a more sustainable future for the communities and destinations it proudly calls home.
