Visit Maldives Corporation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism & Environment and the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), has begun preparations for New Year celebrations in Hulhumalé’, building on the strong public response and success of last year’s festivities. The partners aim to further enhance Hulhumalé’s profile as a modern lifestyle and leisure destination, offering a festive experience that appeals to both Maldivians and international visitors.

The celebrations, scheduled to take place from 30 December 2025 to 1 January 2026, are expected to feature some of the most popular highlights from the 2024 programme. These include a special drone show illuminating the skies over Hulhumalé, a spectacular fireworks display to ring in the New Year, and a variety of food stalls showcasing local and international flavours. Cultural experiences will also play a central role, providing visitors with opportunities to enjoy Maldivian music, arts, and traditions in an accessible and engaging setting. Together, these elements aim to create a vibrant, inclusive, and family-friendly atmosphere that reflects the hospitality and festive spirit for which the Maldives is known.

Hulhumalé’ has grown into a dynamic urban extension of the capital region, with its beachfront promenades, parks, cafés, and guest accommodation options offering a resort-style experience within easy reach of Malé and Velana International Airport. The New Year celebrations are expected to complement this setting by transforming public spaces into open-air venues where families, couples, and groups of friends can come together to welcome 2026. For international guests staying in nearby resorts, hotels, and guesthouses, the festivities in Hulhumalé’ will offer an additional opportunity to experience local culture and community life alongside the country’s renowned sun, sea, and sand.

At this stage, planning for the programme is ongoing, and further details on the schedule, performances, and activations will be announced as arrangements are finalised. The New Year celebrations are being developed as a joint national initiative by Visit Maldives, the Ministry of Tourism & Environment, and HDC, reflecting a shared commitment to enhancing the Maldives’ appeal as a year-round holiday destination with high-quality public events.

Organisers are currently in discussions with potential partners and sponsors and welcome expressions of interest from organisations that wish to be associated with this high-visibility national celebration. Businesses in tourism, hospitality, aviation, retail, entertainment, and related sectors will have the opportunity to support and participate in an event designed to delight residents and visitors while further strengthening the Maldives’ position as one of the world’s most attractive festive and leisure destinations.
