Bandos Maldives marked its 53rd anniversary on 10 December 2025 with a warm and heartfelt celebration together with in-house guests, honouring more than five decades of continuous service since the resort first welcomed visitors on 10 December 1972. As one of the earliest pioneers of Maldivian tourism and the second resort to open in the country, Bandos has played a significant role in shaping the Maldives into one of the world’s most sought-after island destinations.

Addressing guests at the anniversary event, General Manager Ismail Rasheed expressed sincere gratitude to everyone who has been part of Bandos’ journey, including long-time repeat visitors, travel partners, and the dedicated team behind the resort’s success. He highlighted that reaching 53 years is a remarkable achievement built on consistency, genuine care, and the distinctive spirit of hospitality for which Bandos is widely recognised. Rasheed also shared that the resort is now preparing for an exciting new phase of enhancements, reaffirming its commitment to keep evolving while staying true to the values that have defined Bandos since the early days of tourism in the Maldives.

Located just 7–8 kilometres from Velana International Airport and accessible via a convenient 10–15 minute speedboat transfer, Bandos Maldives offers the charm of a private island escape with easy access from Malé. Surrounded by an exotic house reef and clear turquoise waters, the resort features over 200 rooms and villas across multiple categories, designed to cater to families, couples and divers alike.  Over the years, Bandos has steadily built a reputation as the “Island of Hospitality”, with lush tropical vegetation, wide stretches of beach, and a relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere that appeals to both first-time visitors and loyal guests who return year after year. Moments from the anniversary celebration were captured across the island, reflecting the resort’s friendly and welcoming ambience.

Bandos has strengthened its profile internationally in recent years by winning multiple awards for its service quality, family-friendly experiences, and world-class diving. The resort’s dive operation, Dive Bandos, is recognised as one of the Maldives’ longest-established dive centres and has been honoured as the Indian Ocean’s Leading Dive Resort at the World Travel Awards, welcoming both beginners and experienced divers to explore an array of renowned dive sites around North Malé Atoll. With easy access to the house reef, professional PADI-certified instructors and a broad range of courses, Bandos continues to be a preferred choice for travellers who wish to combine a beach holiday with memorable underwater adventures.

Sustainability is a key part of the resort’s story today. Bandos Maldives is proudly Green Globe certified, underscoring its long-term commitment to environmental responsibility and responsible tourism practices.  The certification reflects ongoing investments in eco-friendly technologies and operations, from modern desalination plants and energy-efficient systems to comprehensive initiatives that reduce single-use plastics, encourage recycling, and minimise the overall environmental footprint of the island. These efforts are supported by staff engagement and guest awareness programmes, ensuring that environmental stewardship is integrated into daily life at the resort.

Looking ahead, Bandos has plans for a series of upgrades focused on fresh designs, enhanced comfort and modern amenities that will elevate the overall guest experience. The resort aims to refresh villas and public spaces while preserving the classic Maldivian charm and familiar character that long-time visitors value so highly. Thoughtfully-planned improvements will reinforce Bandos’ position as a trusted four-star island resort that delivers reliable quality, genuine service and strong value for travellers from diverse markets.

With its rich heritage, strong core values and continued focus on innovation, Bandos Maldives enters its 54th year with a renewed sense of purpose. The 53rd anniversary celebration not only recognised the resort’s pioneering role in the history of Maldivian tourism, but also highlighted its ongoing promise to offer meaningful and memorable island experiences for guests from around the world.
