A team of promising junior athletes from the Maldives has departed for Malaysia to take part in the Super Hero Track and Field Championship, an international event organized by CAK Academy. The tournament, now in its second season, will be held in Bangi, Malaysia, from Sunday, 14th September to Monday, 15th September 2025, following the success of its inaugural edition in April this year.
Representing the Maldives are six athletes competing under the banner of Team Maldives. From Naseer Sports Academy, the participating athletes include Mariyam Anjal Radheef, Mohamed Izan Radheef, Nooh Ihlas Salman, Mohamed Ulman Hassan, and Yuan Ahthar. Additionally, Ulwan Ibrahim from Saaid Sports Academy will be competing and joining the Maldivian relay team.
The team is coached by Naseer Ismail, a former number one runner of the Maldives and one of the country’s most accomplished athletes. Commenting on the occasion, Naseer emphasized the importance of unity, noting that while the athletes come from two different academies, they will represent the nation together under the same banner. “The athletes will compete as Team Maldives. Even Saaid Academy’s Ulwan will be running in the relay event for Team Maldives,” he said.
The Super Hero Track and Field Championship is an emerging international sports platform designed to nurture young talent and encourage athletic excellence across borders. The event brings together junior athletes from different nations, offering them exposure to competitive sports on a global stage while also fostering cross-cultural friendships.
For the Maldives, participation in such tournaments underscores the country’s growing commitment to strengthening youth sports and providing international opportunities for its rising athletes. Beyond competing for medals, the experience will help Maldivian youth gain invaluable exposure, sharpen their skills, and develop resilience needed to excel in the competitive sporting world.
The inclusion of talented juniors in this event also highlights the role of local academies such as Naseer Sports Academy and Saaid Sports Academy in developing future stars for the nation. Their representation in Malaysia stands as a proud moment for the Maldives, reflecting both athletic promise and the passion to raise the Maldivian flag on international sports arenas.
