His Highness Sheikh Abdulla Bin Rashid Al Mualla, Deputy Ruler of Umm Al Quwain of the United Arab Emirates, paid a courtesy call on His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at the President’s Office, further reinforcing the Maldives–UAE relationship grounded in mutual development goals and long-standing diplomatic goodwill.

During the high-level meeting, President Muizzu extended his appreciation for the UAE’s continued engagement with the Maldives and expressed particular gratitude for the cooperation surrounding the Maldives International Financial Centre (MIFC), a major initiative aimed at expanding the country’s financial and investment profile. The President also highlighted his eagerness to explore new avenues of collaboration across areas of mutual interest, especially within sustainable development and infrastructure.

The Deputy Ruler reaffirmed the UAE’s steadfast commitment to supporting the Maldives through targeted investment and technical cooperation. He expressed the Emirate’s interest in contributing to several strategic sectors vital to the Maldives’ long-term prosperity. These included enhancing national food security, accelerating the shift toward renewable energy sources to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, improving agricultural systems, and developing critical infrastructure. His Highness also conveyed the UAE’s willingness to assist in strengthening the Maldives’ international credit rating, an important step in attracting future global investment and securing financial stability.

Both leaders acknowledged the strong foundation of diplomatic relations between their nations and reaffirmed their shared vision for continued collaboration in areas that serve their respective national interests. The conversation reflected the Maldives’ growing importance as a regional partner for economic cooperation and sustainable development, particularly in the context of its strategic location and evolving role in global financial and environmental initiatives.

The courtesy call concluded with mutual expressions of commitment to further enhancing cooperation between the Maldives and the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain.
