Two devoted Liverpool FC supporters from the Maldives have set off on an unforgettable journey to witness their favorite team in action at Anfield, thanks to a special initiative by the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC / Visit Maldives). The winners of the #ShowYourRedsLocal photo contest Ali Shahudh (@chuchu_ynwa) and Abdulla Ahnaf (@j8rdi._) were awarded the opportunity to attend the much-anticipated Liverpool FC vs Tottenham match in Liverpool, England.
The #ShowYourRedsLocal campaign, conducted from April 13 to 20, invited Maldivian fans to share their passion for Liverpool FC on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter by posting creative fan photos. Entries showcased participants donning official club apparel, using face paint, or displaying LFC-themed memorabilia. To qualify, fans had to tag the official campaign accounts and use the hashtag #ShowYourRedsLocal, along with a caption expressing their personal connection to the club.
Photos were judged based on creativity, image quality, and the heartfelt enthusiasm they conveyed. The contest highlighted the vibrant football culture among Maldivians and was designed to deepen engagement through Visit Maldives’ official partnership with Liverpool FC.
This collaboration has delivered remarkable outreach. In just one week, Visit Maldives’ partnership with the club generated over 80 million in social media reach. Additionally, the “Win A Holiday to Maldives” campaign, launched through the MyLFC platform, has attracted more than 50,000 entries, ranking among the most actively followed campaigns on the site.
By blending travel promotion with global sports enthusiasm, MMPRC’s efforts continue to showcase the Maldives not only as a premium holiday destination but also as a nation rich in cultural engagement. The journey of the two winners from the islands to the iconic stadium of Anfield exemplifies how shared passions like football can build lasting connections across continents.
