To the rising demand for domestic travel during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, Maldivian, the Maldives’ national carrier, has significantly expanded its flight operations. To ensure smooth travel experiences during the busy holiday period, the airline has scheduled 30 additional flights to 11 popular islands across the country. This increase in services will run from March 29 to April 5, covering the 15-day holiday period, which includes the final ten days of Ramadan and the festivities that follow.
With many people planning their visits to family or holiday destinations across the Maldives, Maldivian’s enhanced schedule aims to accommodate both local and international passengers. The highest number of added flights will be to Seenu Gan, with eight additional services, while other islands such as Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi, Haa Alifu Hanimaadhoo, Alifu Alifu Hoarafushi, and Baa Funadhoo will also see expanded operations. Other destinations benefiting from the increased frequency of flights include Laamu Kadhdhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Kaadedhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Maavarulu, Gaafu Alifu Kooddoo, and Gaafu Dhaalu Faresmathoda.
In addition to these expanded domestic services, Maldivian has also introduced special seaplane operations to meet the increased travel needs. The new seaplane routes will service Baa Fulhadhoo and Fehendhoo, offering more flexibility and convenience for travelers wishing to visit these scenic islands.
Operating a fleet of 25 aircraft, including 11 seaplanes, Maldivian continues to adjust its operations based on real-time passenger demand, ensuring that visitors can travel with ease during one of the busiest times of the year. With these additional flights, the national carrier demonstrates its commitment to providing seamless connectivity across the Maldives, especially during the Eid holidays, one of the most anticipated travel periods in the country.
