Six Senses Laamu is set to elevate its luxury accommodation offering with the introduction of 17 new overwater villas across four categories, marking the first phase of a multi-year transformation programme designed to enhance guest accommodation and shared facilities while preserving the resort’s close connection with the natural environment.

Located in the pristine Laamu Atoll, Six Senses Laamu is widely recognised for combining refined island hospitality with a strong emphasis on marine conservation and environmental stewardship. The latest development builds on that identity, introducing larger living spaces, refreshed interiors and enhanced outdoor amenities while retaining the resort’s distinctive sense of place.

The new villas feature interiors inspired by the colours and textures of the surrounding lagoon, with white and neutral tones complemented by shades of blue. Natural materials are incorporated throughout the design, including driftwood coffee tables, handcrafted hanging lamps and carefully selected decorative elements that reinforce the relaxed, contemporary island atmosphere.

A distinctive feature of the new design is a textured surface pattern inspired by the structure of a turtle shell. The detail draws inspiration from the hawksbill and green turtles found in the waters around Six Senses Laamu, creating a subtle connection between the villa interiors and the resort’s long-standing marine conservation initiatives.

Each villa has been designed to maximise views of the Indian Ocean, with panoramic windows, indoor seating and dining areas, and spacious outdoor decks. Outdoor features include an 18-square-metre private swimming pool, an overwater hammock, dedicated dining and lounge spaces, and an upper deck overlooking the lagoon. Bathtubs have also been positioned to offer ocean views, adding to the villas’ private and tranquil setting.

The four new accommodation categories are the Ocean Water Villa Suite with Pool, Laamu Water Villa Suite with Pool, Horizon Water Villa Suite with Pool and Family Water Villa with Pool. All four categories offer expanded interiors, dedicated seating and dining spaces, additional wardrobe capacity and generous outdoor areas.

The Horizon Water Villa Suite with Pool has been designed around uninterrupted views across the ocean horizon, while the Family Water Villa with Pool introduces a new accommodation concept to the resort. The family category includes a separate children’s bedroom with an adjoining bathroom, allowing families to enjoy shared holiday experiences while also benefiting from greater privacy and flexibility.

Private swimming pools and spacious outdoor decks provide additional areas for families to relax together, while younger guests can also participate in the resort’s Junior Marine Biologist programme. The programme introduces children to the rich marine environment surrounding Laamu Atoll and encourages greater understanding of marine life and conservation.

The introduction of the 17 villas represents the beginning of a wider redevelopment programme at Six Senses Laamu. Further improvements are planned across guest accommodation and shared facilities as the resort continues to strengthen its position as one of the Maldives’ distinctive luxury island destinations. The programme will continue alongside the resort’s established marine conservation activities, house reef protection efforts and wider environmental initiatives.

The new villas will be available for stays from 6 December 2026, with rates starting from USD 2,185 for an Ocean Water Villa Suite with Pool. The expansion is expected to further strengthen Six Senses Laamu’s appeal among travellers seeking spacious overwater accommodation, privacy, family-friendly experiences and meaningful connections with the natural beauty of the Maldives.
