Alila Kothaifaru Maldives is celebrating the Chinese National Day holiday with a curated programme of dining and cultural experiences from 1 to 7 October 2026. Set in the serene surroundings of Raa Atoll, the resort brings together Golden Week traditions, private-pool accommodation and flexible dining, inviting families, friends and couples to enjoy island life at their own pace.

The celebrations combine opportunities to gather around the table with time to explore the lagoon, relax beside a private pool or discover the island’s natural surroundings. Complemented by the resort’s Half Board Special, the programme allows guests to participate in scheduled experiences while retaining the freedom to shape each day around their interests.

Alila Kothaifaru Maldives’ distinctive setting and design have also received international recognition. The resort was named among Trip.com’s Asia 100 – Instagrammable Hotels in both 2025 and 2026, and ranked No. 3 in Trip.com’s 2026 selection of Instagrammable Hotels in the Maldives. These accolades highlight the visual appeal of a property where contemporary accommodation sits within a naturally lush island environment.

For guests seeking an overwater stay, the Lagoon Overwater Pool Villa, Ocean Overwater Pool Villa and Sunset Overwater Pool Villa each offer 125 square metres of indoor-outdoor living space. Every category includes a private pool, with views placing the lagoon and Indian Ocean at the centre of the experience. From changing colours across the water to sunset moments enjoyed in privacy, the villas provide a setting for both relaxation and shared time.

Larger families and multigenerational groups can choose accommodation including the Two-Bedroom Beach Pool Villa and Boduge Residence. These options allow extended families and friends to stay together while maintaining their own space, complementing the Golden Week programme’s emphasis on connection and individual choice.

General Manager Thomas Weber said the celebrations were designed to feel both familiar to guests and distinctly Alila. He highlighted shared experiences such as steamed local reef fish with ginger and scallion, hot pot evenings, dumpling making with Chef Amrit, and tea masterclasses and pairing rituals presented with Dilmah Tea. Together, he explained, these activities bring the spirit of Golden Week into island life while allowing families and friends to enjoy their holiday in their own way.

Dining forms a central part of the programme. The celebrations opened on 1 October with a Dumpling Making Class led by Chef Amrit, followed on 2 October by “Flavors of the Golden Week,” featuring steamed local reef fish with ginger and scallion. The weekend programme includes “Flavors of the East” Hot Pot Nights, offering another opportunity for guests to gather over a shared meal.

On 6 October, Yakitori Bar will host a Chinese-Flavored BBQ Skewer Night, before the programme concludes on 7 October with the Golden Week “Seasalt Night” Buffet Dinner. The sequence of culinary events gives guests different ways to celebrate throughout the week, from hands-on learning to relaxed communal dining.

Tea experiences presented in collaboration with Dilmah Tea add a quieter dimension to the programme. Guests can join Tea Mini-Classes exploring wellbeing and health-related topics, Tea Masterclasses and Tastings, and evening Tea-Pairing Rituals. These scheduled activities offer opportunities to learn, taste and enjoy a reflective moment between the wider island experiences.

The resort’s Half Board Special includes daily breakfast at Seasalt and dinner at Seasalt, Pibati, Yakitori Bar or Umami, served as a three-course à la carte menu, excluding Teppanyaki. The arrangement provides a daily dining foundation while giving guests a choice of venues and culinary styles.

Guests wishing to explore other participating dining experiences receive a USD 75 food credit, applicable to options including Teppanyaki, The Shack and Dining Experiences, subject to availability. Premium and signature items may attract an additional charge. This flexibility allows evenings to range from Japanese flavours at Umami to a more secluded setting at The Shack, the resort’s private sand cay.

The Half Board Special is complemented by Alila Hospitalities, including welcome amenities, Spa Alila wellness activities, complimentary use of snorkelling equipment, daily poolside refreshments and access to Play Alila, the 24-hour Fitness Centre and Library. In-room reusable water bottles, Alila Living bath amenities, Villa Host service and resort-wide Wi-Fi are also included.

Beyond the culinary programme, snorkelling and diving offer opportunities to explore Raa Atoll’s marine environment. Play Alila, outdoor games and padel tennis provide options for family recreation, while Spa Alila and island wellbeing experiences give guests time to pause and recharge.

Alila Moments introduce further opportunities to connect with Maldivian culture, nature and local traditions. These experiences complement the holiday celebrations by bringing the destination itself into the stay, allowing visitors to discover aspects of island life alongside the resort’s accommodation and dining offerings.

The programme also leaves room for spontaneity, with complimentary experiences, including dumpling making and scheduled tea activities, woven between the culinary events. Guests can choose their level of participation, although selected activities require advance reservations and dining credits apply only to eligible experiences.

Through its Golden Week celebrations, Alila Kothaifaru Maldives brings together cultural discovery, contemporary island hospitality and the freedom to spend time meaningfully. Overwater mornings, private-pool afternoons and shared meals overlooking the Indian Ocean create a holiday experience centred on connection, with the natural beauty of Raa Atoll providing the setting.
