Aman is set to make its highly anticipated debut in the Maldives with Amanolu, an exclusive resort and branded residential development in Vaavu Atoll that will combine a 52-key luxury resort with 16 private-island residences. Scheduled to welcome its first guests in 2028, the development will add another internationally renowned hospitality brand to the Maldives’ growing portfolio of high-end tourism properties.
Designed by acclaimed Kerry Hill Architects (KHA), Amanolu is being developed around the Maldives’ distinctive island environment, with the resort planned across a collection of islands offering privacy, space and direct access to the surrounding ocean. The 52-key resort is expected to deliver the intimate and highly personalised hospitality experience associated with the Aman brand while drawing on the natural beauty and seclusion that have established the Maldives as one of the world’s leading luxury tourism destinations.
The resort masterplan will include separate islands dedicated to wellness and recreation, allowing different guest experiences to be integrated across the development while maintaining a strong sense of tranquillity and exclusivity. Wellness facilities are set to include an Aman Spa together with the brand’s signature Spa Houses, providing dedicated spaces for guests seeking private and personalised wellness experiences during their stay.
Amanolu will also place significant emphasis on marine and recreational activities, with facilities planned for diving, snorkelling and a variety of watersports. The surrounding waters of Vaavu Atoll are expected to form an important part of the overall guest experience, complementing the resort’s private-island setting and providing international travellers with opportunities to explore the Maldives’ renowned marine environment.
A range of dining venues is also planned as part of the resort, further expanding the experience available to guests and residence owners. Detailed concepts for the dining outlets have not yet been announced, but they are expected to form an integral part of Amanolu’s hospitality offering when the property opens.
Alongside the resort, Aman Residences, Amanolu will introduce 16 branded residences, with each home occupying its own private island. The residential concept represents an exceptionally low-density approach to luxury living in the Maldives, giving owners an entire island rather than a conventional villa within a larger resort development.
Each residence will feature five bedrooms and its own private beach, providing substantial space for families and guests. The homes will also include a 25-metre private swimming pool, dedicated staff accommodation and a personal boat berth, allowing owners to arrive and travel between the residence and resort facilities with a high degree of privacy and convenience.
The residences are being positioned to maximise the natural surroundings, with individual islands oriented to offer sunrise or sunset views. Selected residences will feature beaches on both sides of the island, further enhancing the sense of space and connection with the ocean that forms a central part of the development.
Owners of Aman Residences, Amanolu will also have access to the resort’s dining, wellness and recreational facilities, combining the privacy of an independent island home with the services and amenities of an Aman resort. This integrated model is expected to appeal to international buyers seeking long-term private ownership in the Maldives while retaining access to professionally managed hospitality services.
Amanolu’s planned opening in 2028 will mark Aman’s first entry into the Maldives, introducing both the brand’s resort experience and its residential portfolio to the destination. The development reflects the continued strength of the Maldives in attracting internationally recognised luxury hospitality brands and high-value tourism investment.
The arrival of Aman will further diversify the Maldives’ premium tourism offering, particularly through a development model that combines a limited number of resort keys with individually occupied private-island residences. Such projects continue to strengthen the Maldives’ position in the global luxury travel market while supporting the country’s broader focus on attracting high-value tourism developments and maintaining its international reputation as a distinctive island destination.
With its combination of a 52-key resort, dedicated wellness and recreation islands, extensive marine activities and 16 exclusive private-island residences, Amanolu is positioned to become one of the notable additions to the Maldives’ luxury hospitality landscape when it begins welcoming guests in 2028.
