Ooredoo Maldives recorded a net profit of USD 11.15 million in the second quarter of 2026, maintaining a strong level of profitability as the telecommunications company continued to generate solid earnings across its mobile, fixed broadband and enterprise business segments.
According to the company’s financial statements, the second-quarter net profit represented a 3.9 per cent decline compared with the preceding quarter. The result was also moderately lower than the USD 11.61 million in net profit recorded during the corresponding quarter of 2025. Despite the quarterly and year-on-year moderation, the company continued to report substantial profitability, reflecting the strength and scale of its operations within the Maldives telecommunications market.
Total revenue for the second quarter stood at USD 34.76 million, compared with USD 35.47 million generated during the first quarter of the year. The figures indicate that Ooredoo Maldives continued to maintain a sizeable and stable revenue base across its principal telecommunications services despite fluctuations between reporting periods.
Earnings before tax amounted to USD 13.16 million during the second quarter, compared with USD 13.62 million in the first three months of 2026. The company therefore remained strongly profitable at the pre-tax level while continuing to operate across a competitive telecommunications environment serving individual consumers, businesses and institutional customers throughout the country.
Ooredoo Maldives derives its operating revenue primarily from two major business segments: mobile telecommunications services and fixed-line, broadband internet and enterprise services. Its diversified business structure enables the company to serve a wide range of connectivity requirements, from individual mobile users to households, businesses and organisations requiring fixed broadband and enterprise telecommunications solutions.
Mobile services remained the largest contributor to the company’s quarterly revenue, generating USD 24.64 million during the second quarter. This was lower than the USD 25.55 million recorded during the first quarter, but the segment continued to account for a substantial majority of the company’s overall business and remained central to its commercial operations in the Maldives.
The company’s fixed broadband business, however, delivered positive growth during the quarter. Revenue from fixed broadband services increased to USD 10.05 million in the second quarter from USD 9.86 million in the first quarter, representing growth of approximately 2 per cent.
The expansion of fixed broadband revenue is particularly significant as demand for reliable high-speed internet connectivity continues to grow across households, businesses and institutions in the Maldives. Broadband infrastructure has become increasingly important for commercial activity, education, government services, financial transactions, communications and the wider development of digital services across the geographically dispersed island nation.
Ooredoo Maldives’ continued growth in this area highlights the increasing contribution of fixed connectivity and digital infrastructure to the company’s overall business portfolio. The performance also demonstrates how the telecommunications market is gradually becoming more diversified, with broadband and enterprise connectivity playing an increasingly important role alongside traditional mobile services.
Reliable digital connectivity is especially important for the Maldives due to the country’s unique geography, with communities, government institutions and businesses distributed across numerous islands. Continued investment and competition within the telecommunications sector therefore contribute directly to improving access to digital services, supporting economic activity and strengthening connectivity between the capital and island communities throughout the country.
The sector also plays an important role in supporting the Government’s wider efforts to strengthen digital accessibility, modernise service delivery and create an environment in which businesses and communities can increasingly benefit from technology-enabled services. Strong telecommunications infrastructure is an essential component of the Maldives’ continued economic development, particularly as public services, financial services, education, commerce and other sectors become increasingly digital.
Ooredoo Maldives’ second-quarter results consequently show a company maintaining substantial revenues and profitability while experiencing moderate variations between reporting periods. At the same time, the positive performance of its fixed broadband segment provides an encouraging indication of continued demand for high-speed connectivity and the growing importance of digital infrastructure within the Maldivian economy.
With USD 34.76 million in quarterly revenue, USD 13.16 million in earnings before tax and USD 11.15 million in net profit, Ooredoo Maldives remains a significant contributor to the country’s telecommunications industry. The continued expansion of broadband services further reinforces the importance of sustained investment in connectivity as the Maldives advances its digital transformation and strengthens the technological foundations supporting businesses, public institutions and communities nationwide.
