The newly appointed Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Hamad Mohammed Abdullah Al-Sanad Al-Dosari, paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowments this morning.
Upon his arrival, the Ambassador was warmly received by the Minister of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, together with senior officials of the Ministry. The meeting provided an opportunity to welcome the Ambassador following his appointment and to introduce him to the Ministry’s responsibilities, institutional priorities and ongoing programmes.
During the meeting, Minister Dr. Shaheem delivered a detailed presentation on the Islamic history of the Maldives, highlighting the central role of Islam in shaping the country’s national identity, social values, cultural traditions and institutional development. The Minister also provided an overview of the historical development of Islamic affairs in the Maldives and the continued importance placed on preserving and promoting the country’s Islamic heritage.
The Ambassador was further briefed on the mandate of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, including its responsibilities in the administration of mosques, religious education, Islamic awareness, scholarly development, waqf affairs and the coordination of religious services throughout the country.
Minister Dr. Shaheem also outlined several of the Ministry’s key initiatives aimed at strengthening Islamic knowledge, developing religious institutions, enhancing the capacity of scholars, imams and religious professionals, and improving the accessibility and quality of services provided to communities across the Maldives.
The discussions reflected the importance of continued engagement between the Maldives and the State of Qatar, particularly in areas of mutual interest relating to Islamic affairs, education, institutional development and community advancement. Both sides expressed their commitment to maintaining constructive dialogue and exploring opportunities to further strengthen cooperation for the benefit of the people of both countries.
The courtesy visit concluded with an exchange of goodwill and best wishes, reaffirming the friendly relations between the Maldives and Qatar and the shared commitment of both nations to promoting Islamic values, knowledge and sustainable social development.
