The Maldives Business Chamber has launched a business development training series designed to strengthen the operational capacity, productivity and international competitiveness of small and medium enterprises across the Maldives. The series commenced with a practical training session focused on the effective use of artificial intelligence in business operations.

Maldives Business Chamber President Ahmed Amjad said the inaugural programme was attended by approximately 30 to 40 participants representing businesses based in Malé and various atolls. The session was delivered by an instructor with professional experience in information technology and artificial intelligence, providing participants with practical guidance on integrating emerging digital tools into their daily business activities.

The training introduced participants to ways in which artificial intelligence can help businesses complete administrative and operational tasks more quickly, prepare documents more efficiently and improve the overall quality of written business materials. Participants were also shown how AI tools could support research, communication, customer engagement, content development and the preparation of information required for business planning and decision-making.

The programme further examined how small and medium enterprises could use artificial intelligence to improve internal management, reduce the time spent on repetitive tasks and make better use of limited human and financial resources. Particular attention was given to practical applications that could assist businesses with routine correspondence, proposals, reports, marketing materials and other documents commonly required in commercial operations.

The Chamber also highlighted the potential for AI-supported tools to help Maldivian businesses improve their visibility beyond the domestic market. By strengthening digital communication, market research and promotional capabilities, businesses operating in Malé and the atolls may be better positioned to identify new customers, explore overseas opportunities and present their products and services to international audiences.

Participants described the session as informative and practical, noting that the knowledge gained could be directly applied within their respective businesses. The training also provided an opportunity for business owners and representatives to develop a clearer understanding of how technological developments could support productivity, innovation and sustainable business growth.

Established in December 2025, the Maldives Business Chamber was formed to support the development of the private sector and provide businesses with opportunities for professional development, networking and institutional representation. The Chamber currently represents approximately 100 member companies operating across a range of industries and business sectors.

Through its training and capacity-building initiatives, the Chamber aims to address the practical needs of businesses while encouraging greater adoption of technology, modern management practices and internationally relevant skills. Such programmes are expected to be particularly beneficial for smaller enterprises seeking cost-effective ways to improve efficiency and expand their commercial reach.

The Maldives Business Chamber plans to conduct AI-related training sessions regularly and extend future programmes to a wider number of businesses in Malé and across the atolls. Companies interested in participating in upcoming sessions may register through the Chamber’s official website.
