Visit Maldives Corporation and Public Service Media have entered into a strategic partnership to strengthen Creatoll, the digital marketplace dedicated to Maldivian creative content, by integrating Public Service Media’s extensive audiovisual archives and media resources into the platform. The collaboration brings together Visit Maldives Corporation’s expertise in destination marketing and brand development with Public Service Media’s role as the Maldives’ leading broadcaster and custodian of the country’s largest collection of audiovisual material, further enhancing Creatoll as a comprehensive home for the nation’s visual, cultural and creative assets.
The agreement was signed by Ibrahim Shiuree, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation, and Ahmed Shakeeb, Managing Director of Public Service Media. Through this partnership, Public Service Media will contribute selected archival and contemporary media assets to Creatoll, including photography, documentaries, historical footage, interviews and cultural documentation. These materials reflect decades of Maldivian history, heritage, daily life and social development, and will be carefully organised within a dedicated digital marketplace designed to connect creators and content owners with users and buyers seeking authentic Maldivian content.
The partnership is expected to significantly broaden the depth and value of Creatoll by making a rich body of national content more accessible to a wider audience. For global users, the platform offers a unique opportunity to discover the Maldives through authentic local storytelling, historical records and contemporary creative expression. For creators, researchers, filmmakers, marketers and businesses, it creates a professional ecosystem where original Maldivian content can be explored, curated and licensed with greater ease and visibility. This development also supports the growing international interest in culturally rooted content that reflects genuine identity, place and experience.
Visit Maldives Corporation stated that Creatoll was established with the vision of creating a dedicated space for Maldivian creativity and allowing the stories of the Maldives to reach audiences around the world. With the inclusion of Public Service Media’s vast audiovisual archives, the platform is expected to grow into the largest and most comprehensive repository and marketplace for Maldivian content. The collaboration not only supports the preservation of valuable national assets, but also opens new commercial and creative opportunities for a wide range of industries that depend on high-quality and authentic visual and cultural material.
Public Service Media highlighted that, as the national broadcaster, it has documented the Maldives and its people across generations, creating an invaluable visual record of the country’s cultural life, historical journey and national development. Through this collaboration, those assets will not only be preserved for future generations, but also brought into wider circulation through a modern digital marketplace. The partnership is expected to benefit creators, institutions and industries while contributing to the continued growth of the Maldivian creative economy and strengthening appreciation for the country’s unique heritage.
In addition to contributing content, Public Service Media will support the promotion of Creatoll through its media channels and will work closely with Visit Maldives Corporation on initiatives that encourage the documentation and sharing of Maldivian culture, traditions, heritage and contemporary experiences. Visit Maldives Corporation will continue to manage and develop the platform, including content organisation, licensing processes and marketplace operations, ensuring that Creatoll remains an active and evolving platform that responds to the needs of both content owners and users.
The collaboration also reflects a broader vision for presenting the Maldives to the world in a more diverse and meaningful way. While the country is widely recognised as one of the world’s most admired travel destinations, platforms such as Creatoll create new opportunities to showcase the deeper cultural identity of the Maldives through its people, communities, history and creative expression. By bringing together media, heritage and digital innovation, the initiative strengthens the country’s global profile and offers an enriched perspective of the Maldives beyond its natural beauty.
Creatoll will officially begin serving consumers and businesses during a ceremony to be held on Monday, 29 June, at Television Maldives. The event will be officiated by the Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Hon. Mohamed Ameen, marking the formal launch of a platform expected to play an important role in promoting authentic Maldivian content to both local and international audiences.
