InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort has introduced the Graffiti Club in celebration of World Art Day, unveiling a team-led initiative designed to encourage artistic expression, collaboration and storytelling through art within the resort’s working environment. The new programme reflects the resort’s continued investment in building a vibrant workplace culture, while also highlighting the creative talents of its team members beyond their day-to-day professional roles.
Bringing together more than 18 team members from a wide range of departments, the Graffiti Club represents a shared commitment to creativity and collective engagement. Through this initiative, selected back-of-house spaces at the resort have been transformed into artistic canvases, turning staff areas into visually engaging environments that celebrate imagination, individuality and teamwork. By integrating art into these internal spaces, the resort is creating an atmosphere where employees can contribute meaningfully to the character of their workplace.
The first collection of artworks draws inspiration from the natural beauty surrounding InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort, particularly the rich marine environment of the Maamunagau lagoon. Featuring iconic ocean life such as manta rays, whale sharks and sea turtles, the murals reflect the remarkable biodiversity that defines the destination and reinforces the strong connection between the resort and its unique island setting. The use of marine-inspired imagery not only enhances the visual appeal of the spaces but also echoes the sense of place that makes the resort distinctive within the Maldives’ luxury hospitality landscape. As the initiative continues to grow, additional artworks are expected to expand the creative narrative across the property’s team spaces.
InterContinental Maldives said the Graffiti Club is rooted in its brand culture and service philosophy, Inspire Incredible, with the initiative serving as a platform to support creativity, collaboration and self-expression among team members. The resort’s approach highlights the belief that a positive and inspiring internal culture contributes meaningfully to the overall strength of the guest experience. By encouraging employees to share their perspectives and talents through art, the resort is reinforcing a workplace environment built on inclusion, motivation and genuine human connection.
Renuka Gupta, Cluster Director of Learning and Development, said creativity exists in every individual, regardless of role or background. She noted that the initiative was created to provide team members with a space to express themselves, connect with colleagues and contribute to the environment in which they work each day. Her remarks reflect the broader value the resort places on personal growth and engagement, recognising that creative opportunities can strengthen morale, deepen team relationships and enrich the everyday professional experience.
Set in the scenic Raa Atoll, InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort is widely recognised for combining refined luxury with a strong appreciation for the natural surroundings of the Maldives. The launch of the Graffiti Club adds another dimension to the resort’s identity, showing how creativity and wellbeing are being woven into its organisational culture alongside its established commitment to exceptional hospitality. As global hospitality brands continue to place greater emphasis on team wellbeing and meaningful workplace experiences, the resort’s latest initiative presents a thoughtful example of how internal culture can be nurtured in ways that are both inspiring and authentic.
