Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced an increase in monthly foreign transaction limits for its credit cardholders, with the revised limits set to take effect from 1 February 2026. The enhancement introduces a tiered structure aligned with the bank’s credit card offerings, providing customers with greater flexibility and purchasing power for international transactions. Under the new framework, holders of the Classic Credit Card will be eligible for a monthly foreign transaction limit of USD 1,400, Gold Credit Card holders will have a limit of USD 1,500, while Platinum Credit Card holders will benefit from a significantly higher limit of USD 3,000 per month.
The revised limits represent a notable increase from the current thresholds, which stand at USD 750 per month for both Classic and Gold credit cards, and USD 1,500 for Platinum cards. BML has clarified that the enhanced credit card limits apply per credit card and are in addition to the foreign transaction limits already available on customers’ debit cards, allowing for a more comprehensive and flexible approach to managing overseas spending.
This announcement follows adjustments introduced by the bank in November, when the monthly foreign transaction limit on debit cards was raised to USD 3,000 for travel and medical-related expenses, and USD 1,000 for point-of-sale transactions abroad. With the latest update, Platinum Credit Card holders will now enjoy a foreign transaction limit that exceeds the previously set debit card threshold for overseas spending, supporting higher-value transactions and offering added convenience for frequent international travelers and customers with global financial needs.
The increase reflects Bank of Maldives’ ongoing efforts to enhance customer experience and align its products with evolving lifestyle and travel requirements. By expanding access to foreign transactions through its credit card portfolio, the bank continues to strengthen its position as a trusted financial partner for individuals engaging in international travel, business, and online commerce, while supporting seamless global connectivity for its customers.
