Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) has officially launched Creatoll, a global content creator platform designed to showcase authentic Maldivian stories while building stronger connections between creators, tourism partners, brands, and international audiences. The platform was unveiled by Minister of Tourism and Environment Thoriq Ibrahim during the Maldives Culture and Food Festival 2025, positioning Creatoll as a new digital channel to support destination storytelling with a strong emphasis on cultural depth and real island experiences. Conceived as a dedicated content marketplace, Creatoll enables both Maldivian and international creators to professionally present, license, and monetise destination-focused content that highlights the Maldives through genuine narratives rather than generic imagery. The name itself reflects the belief that creativity emerges from every atoll, recognising that talent is spread across the islands and that compelling Maldivian storytelling can be shaped by creators from local communities as well as visiting professionals who capture the destination with respect and authenticity.

At launch, Creatoll features curated visual content that portrays everyday life in the Maldives alongside the natural beauty that has made the country a global tourism leader, including island experiences, local culture, and nature-led moments that reflect the rhythm of community life. VMC stated that the platform is structured to evolve over time, with plans to expand its scope to accommodate a broader range of creative assets as the marketplace grows and as demand from brands and tourism partners diversifies. For Maldivian creators, Creatoll is expected to address a long-standing gap by offering direct access to international opportunities that have traditionally been difficult to reach, allowing local talent to enter a global market while maintaining professional visibility and ownership of their work. International creators are also able to earn through the platform, provided that their content authentically showcases the Maldives, helping ensure that the marketplace develops a diverse and high-quality pool of destination storytelling while remaining rooted in genuine experiences that strengthen the Maldives’ brand credibility.

“Creatoll is designed to put creators at the centre of how the Maldives is represented globally,” said Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO and Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation, highlighting the platform’s role in strengthening both industry partnerships and creative livelihoods. He noted that for local creators, the platform opens pathways to international exposure and sustainable creative careers, while also enabling collaboration with visiting creators whose work reflects the true spirit of the Maldives, ensuring the destination is promoted through authentic and meaningful storytelling. VMC described the launch as a strategic step in its broader marketing direction, aimed at empowering creators, diversifying destination marketing approaches, and reinforcing the Maldives’ presence in global travel and cultural conversations through content that resonates with modern audiences seeking real stories and human connection behind world-class tourism destinations.
