As part of the new guidelines set by Indian immigration authorities, all travellers, including Maldivians must now complete an online e-Arrival Card before arriving in India. This requirement comes into effect on 10 October 2025, and travellers are advised to submit the form within 72 hours prior to departure. The form can be accessed and submitted via the official Indian government portal at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/earrival/. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has clarified that this procedural update does not affect the existing visa-free or visa-facilitated travel arrangements for Maldivians visiting India, but is rather an administrative measure to streamline arrivals.
In parallel, Sri Lankan authorities have introduced an additional requirement for incoming travellers. Effective from 15 October 2025, all individuals travelling to Sri Lanka will need to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) in advance of their journey. Travellers are advised to complete the online form between 48 to 24 hours before their departure, using the official platform at https://eta.gov.lk/slvisa. As with the update for India, the Maldivian Ministry has stressed that this requirement is also procedural and does not represent a change to existing bilateral visa arrangements.
