Visit Maldives took a prominent step in expanding its outreach within Central and Eastern Europe by participating in an exclusive business-to-business networking event organized by Hungary’s renowned tour operator, 1000UT. Held on 30th September 2025 at UP Hotel in Budapest, the event served as a dynamic platform to showcase the Maldives as a leading destination for luxury and experiential travel to Hungarian travel agents and industry professionals.

The half-day event attracted 52 travel agents and served as a valuable opportunity for Visit Maldives to directly engage with key players in Hungary’s tourism sector. Representatives from five major Maldivian tourism partners, Exciting Maldives, Splendid Asia Pvt Ltd, Ayada Maldives, Riu Atoll, Riu Palace Maldives, and Cocoon Maldives, participated alongside international airline partners FlyDubai and Turkish Airlines. These collaborative efforts presented a comprehensive view of the Maldives’ offerings, from ultra-luxury island resorts to diverse travel packages, seamless air connectivity, and personalized guest experiences.

Hungary is an emerging market in the Central and Eastern European region that has demonstrated growing interest in the Maldives over recent years. This aligns with a broader trend of increased travel to the Maldives from neighboring European countries. The Budapest networking event provided a timely opportunity to sustain awareness among travel trade professionals and further strengthen the Maldives’ reputation as an aspirational holiday destination.

As part of its ongoing strategic marketing efforts, Visit Maldives continues to implement targeted activities across the Central and Eastern European region. The networking event in Budapest complements the larger “I AM MALDIVES – CEE Roadshow 2025,” a multi-nation promotional initiative designed to elevate the Maldives’ visibility across various segments of the tourism market, including high-end travelers, honeymooners, and adventure seekers.

Throughout the event, travel agents were introduced to the Maldives’ diverse tourism landscape through presentations, destination videos, and face-to-face interactions with resort and DMC partners. These interactions focused on promoting the country’s year-round tropical appeal, the authenticity of its local island life, and the breadth of experiences available, from underwater dining and marine excursions to wellness retreats and cultural immersion.

By maintaining strong connections with regional travel agents and forming new business partnerships, Visit Maldives continues to position the island nation as a place where natural beauty meets unique experiences. The efforts not only contribute to sustaining tourist arrivals but also ensure the Maldives remains a top-of-mind destination for travelers from Hungary and across Central and Eastern Europe.
