Ooredoo Maldives has announced a net profit of USD 10.8 million for the first quarter of 2025, reflecting a steady 2.5% increase from USD 10.5 million in the same period last year. The financial results underscore the company’s continued strength in delivering telecom services while driving digital connectivity across the Maldives.

The company’s overall revenue reached USD 35.5 million, experiencing a marginal year-on-year decline of 1.3%. While mobile service revenue dipped slightly to USD 26.7 million from USD 27.9 million in Q1 2024, this was balanced by strong performance in fixed broadband services, which saw an 8% increase, rising from USD 8 million last year to USD 8.8 million this quarter. These numbers highlight the growing demand for reliable high-speed internet as more customers transition to home and business broadband services.

A major highlight of the quarter was the expansion of Ooredoo’s 5G network, which now covers 80% of the Maldivian population. This expansion further supports the Maldives’ goal of enhancing digital infrastructure to meet the needs of both residents and international travelers seeking a connected experience in the island nation.

Adding to its list of innovations, Ooredoo also introduced the Maldives’ first eSIM-enabled wearable service in collaboration with Samsung. This feature allows users to make phone calls and send messages directly from their smartwatches, delivering an added layer of convenience and mobility, especially appealing to tech-savvy visitors and business travelers.

As a key player in the Maldives’ telecom landscape, Ooredoo continues to play a vital role in enabling digital transformation and supporting the tourism sector with reliable, fast, and forward-thinking connectivity solutions.
