The statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism has shown that the number of tourism beds in operation has decreased to 62,000 in the past week.

As per the statistics released on Thursday, 42,963 beds across 175 resorts, 15,134 beds from 924 guesthouses, 2,741 beds across 144 safari vessels and 1,940 beds from 14 hotels are in operation around 1,257 facilities around the country, totaling the number of tourist beds in operation to 62,778. This is a decline from the 63,059 until 22nd November 2023.

While the number of operational tourist beds have reduced, Maldives also recorded over 1.6 million tourist arrivals this year compared to the same period in 2022.

Maldives received its one millionth tourist arrival of the year on July 16 and is expected to reach its target of 1.9 million arrivals soon.
