The Maldives’ Ministry of Tourism has declared that the number of visitors to the country has topped 1.5 million.

The ministry predicted last week that the Maldives would hit the 1.8 target for tourist arrivals by the end of the year and reach 1.5 million by the end of October.

The Tourism Ministry announced on X that on Saturday, the 1.5 millionth visitor to the Maldives made a visit.

The ministry released statistics showing that as of Saturday, 1,505,366 tourists had arrived in the Maldives.

With 172,472 arrivals, or 11.2 percent of the total tourist market, Russia continues to be the top destination for travelers to the Maldives. With 163,513 arrivals, or 10.9 percent of the market, India has risen to second place. With 163,036 arrivals, China comes in second with 10.8% of the market share.

33 international airlines operate to the Maldives at present.

According to Tourism Ministry, there are 62,868 beds in operation at the moment, registered to 1,272 tourist establishments.
