Under Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s direction, the newly elected government is investigating the possibility of renaming the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives).
The Muizzu administration stressed the significance of putting special measures in place targeted at boosting the nation’s economy during the first cabinet meeting. The Visitor Economic Council (VEC) was founded by the government as a component of this larger economic plan.
During a press conference held at the President’s Office today, Ibrahim Faisal, the recently appointed Minister of Tourism, explained the President’s intentions regarding the rebranding efforts. According to Faisal, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is keen to reestablish MMPRC, with an emphasis on broadening its market penetration.
“The rebranding process will begin with the appointment of a managing director. According to Faisal, the focus will move from promoting current products to aggressively pursuing new markets.
Under President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s previous administration, there had been discussions about rebranding MMPRC. But those plans never materialized, and the company managed to maintain its identity in spite of earlier scandals. Afterwards, the term “Visit Maldives” was employed as a marketing strategy to present the nation to the outside world.
