More than 1.1 million European tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year, reinforcing Europe’s role as one of the country’s leading source markets, according to figures released by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment. Official data shows that over two million international visitors had arrived in the Maldives by the end of October, with European travellers representing nearly 59 percent of total arrivals, highlighting the region’s sustained contribution to the nation’s tourism-led economy and wider business ecosystem.
Russia recorded the highest number of arrivals among European markets, contributing more than 253,000 visitors. The United Kingdom followed with 181,301 arrivals, while Germany ranked third with 152,739 tourists visiting the island nation. The concentration of demand across these key markets continues to support strong room-night performance and stable forward bookings, benefiting resort operators, aviation partners, tour operators, and the broader value chain that underpins the Maldives’ premium travel offering.
The data also indicates solid year-on-year momentum, with arrivals from Europe up by 10.6 percent compared to the same period last year. Industry stakeholders view this growth as a clear signal of confidence in the Maldives’ resort proposition, where travellers increasingly seek privacy, natural beauty, and experiences that combine relaxation with meaningful wellness and lifestyle elements. From spacious villas over turquoise lagoons to curated dining, marine excursions, and personalised spa journeys, resorts continue to refine high-end guest experiences that align with evolving European preferences for comfort, sustainability, and authentic island-inspired hospitality.
Tourism businesses expect Europe’s consistent demand to further strengthen the Maldives’ positioning in the global market, especially as the destination continues to appeal to both leisure and wellness-focused travellers. With strong arrivals through October and continued interest from major European markets, the outlook remains positive for resorts and partners planning seasonal offerings, guest experience enhancements, and long-term investments that support the Maldives’ reputation as a premier luxury and wellbeing destination for global visitors.
