At the renowned ITB Asia 2025 travel trade show held from October 15 to 17 at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, the Maldives reaffirmed its reputation as a premier global destination by delivering an inspiring and expansive presentation of its world-famous tourism offerings. Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC), the national tourism promotion body, spearheaded the delegation, presenting the country’s distinctive attractions to key stakeholders across Asia and the Pacific.
This year’s participation saw a strong presence from the Maldivian tourism industry, with 32 representatives from 20 co-exhibiting companies joining the VMC pavilion. These included high-end resort operators, travel service providers, guesthouse representatives, and destination management companies, who used the platform to establish new business ties, renew existing partnerships, and explore opportunities for expanding market reach.
The Maldives booth, an impressive 99-square-meter stand, offered visitors a visual journey into the tropical nation’s idyllic settings. Designed to reflect the natural charm of the islands, the stand featured detailed branding elements inspired by the nation’s turquoise waters, white sand beaches, and serene overwater villas all of which have become iconic symbols of the Maldives’ luxurious yet eco-conscious approach to tourism.
During the three-day event, the Maldives team conducted a wide range of business meetings and walk-in engagements, strategically targeting various traveller segments. While the country is globally celebrated for its exclusive resort experiences, the Maldives’ presentation at ITB Asia emphasized its broader tourism appeal including budget-friendly guesthouses, family-friendly experiences, halal tourism options, solo travel getaways, and romantic honeymoon escapes.
A growing focus on sustainability and responsible tourism was also evident at the Maldives stand, where eco-tourism initiatives, marine conservation efforts, and renewable resort practices were featured. These themes reflect the country’s ongoing commitment to protecting its fragile marine ecosystems while delivering high-quality experiences.
One of the key strengths promoted at the event was the ease of travel to the Maldives. Visitors learned about the country’s liberal visa-on-arrival policy for most nationalities, seamless air connectivity from major Asian hubs, and the abundance of luxury and mid-range accommodation spread across more than 1,200 coral islands. The Maldivian resort sector home to more than 170 world-class resorts continues to attract discerning travellers from around the globe. Many of these properties are located on private islands and offer personalized experiences, from underwater dining to wellness retreats and curated marine activities.
To enhance engagement, Visit Maldives incorporated interactive elements such as a visitor map where attendees could pin their dream destinations in the Maldives. A digital survey campaign ran alongside promotional giveaways, creating memorable experiences while collecting valuable visitor insights.
His Excellency Mohamed Luveiz, the Maldives’ High Commissioner to Singapore, also visited the Maldives stand, demonstrating strong diplomatic support and emphasizing the government’s focus on expanding visibility and engagement within the Asia-Pacific region.
This strategic outreach is underscored by growing market data. As of August 2025, the Asia-Pacific region accounted for 39.1% of all tourist arrivals to the Maldives, equating to 477,623 visitors. The continued growth of this market reflects a rising demand for tropical getaways that balance exclusivity with nature, particularly among travellers from Southeast Asia, China, India, South Korea, and emerging markets.
Participation in ITB Asia 2025 aligns with Visit Maldives’ broader strategy to maintain visibility in key markets through a robust combination of B2B and B2C initiatives. These include roadshows, press trips, digital campaigns, and high-profile international exhibitions, all aimed at maintaining the Maldives’ top-of-mind status among travellers seeking unforgettable holiday experiences.
With the Maldives’ diverse resort ecosystem offering tailored experiences from ultra-luxury to adventure-packed family vacations the country continues to position itself as one of the most alluring, safe, and accessible island destinations in the world. The successful showcase at ITB Asia 2025 marks another step forward in reinforcing this image across Asia.
