In a glittering ceremony held at the Hyatt Regency Dubai on October 9, 2025, Sun Siyam Group and its Founder and Chairman, Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, earned top honours at the Global Peace Hospitality Awards 2025, celebrating their long-standing contributions to tourism, entrepreneurship, and global peace initiatives. The awards, organised by the Global Peace Institute (UK) in partnership with Impact Hub UAE, brought together over 200 distinguished guests from 46 countries, including diplomats, entrepreneurs, cultural figures, and hospitality leaders.
Ahmed Siyam, widely regarded as a visionary in the tourism sector, was the only recipient to receive three prestigious honours during the evening. These included the Golden Sail of Distinction, the highest accolade awarded at the summit, alongside two Lifetime Achievement Awards for Hospitality and Service Excellence and Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation. These accolades recognised his unparalleled role in shaping the Maldives into a globally admired luxury tourism destination, as well as his substantial public service contributions as the country’s longest-serving Member of Parliament.
Often referred to as the “Elon Musk of the Maldives,” Siyam’s work has extended beyond resort development to embrace sustainable tourism, youth empowerment, and philanthropy. His efforts were also acknowledged in terms of civic responsibility, being recognised as the highest individual taxpayer in the Maldives and a major contributor to national media through his television network.
The awards evening was not only a celebration of individual excellence but also a testament to the overall success and influence of Sun Siyam Group, which secured six major awards across its luxury resort portfolio:
-
Siyam World Maldives: World’s Leading Lifestyle Resort
-
Sun Siyam Pasikudah, Sri Lanka: Luxury Beachfront Retreat of the Year
-
Sun Siyam Vilu Reef: Peaceful Indulgence Award
-
Sun Siyam Iru Fushi: Luxury Peace Retreat
-
Sun Siyam Iru Veli: Maldives’ Leading All-Inclusive Luxury Resort
-
Sun Siyam Olhuveli: Indian Ocean’s Leading Family Lifestyle Resort
These recognitions underscore Sun Siyam Group’s growing reputation for delivering exceptional, peace-oriented hospitality experiences that combine mindful luxury with authentic Maldivian warmth. The resorts have become symbols of how tourism can operate as a vehicle for cross-cultural understanding, economic development, and sustainability.
Joining Siyam at the event were his wife, Soukayna Hadfi, Vice President of Operations Abdulla Thamheed, and General Manager of Sun Siyam Olhuveli Hassan Adil, alongside regional representatives and public relations executives. Their presence highlighted the strong internal leadership and team cohesion that support the group’s expansive operations across the Maldives and beyond.
The evening also featured the official launch of the Golden Wing of Peace Movement, an international initiative designed to foster collaboration among leaders, creatives, and organisations advocating for community-centric leadership and conscious business practices. The gala included the Wings of Harmony fashion showcase by Egyptian designer Nadine Ellithy, adding a cultural and artistic dimension to the celebration, and a keynote address by General Dr. Mohammed Al Shamsi, who reinforced the UAE’s role as a hub of global coexistence and harmony.
The Global Peace Institute has previously hosted summits in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Scotland, and London, but its 2025 edition in Dubai marked a growing intersection between hospitality and peace-driven leadership. The recognition of Sun Siyam Group and its Chairman at such a global stage highlights the Maldives’ increasing influence in sustainable, values-based tourism.
This international recognition not only honours a lifetime of dedication but also cements the Maldives’ place on the map as a destination that offers more than pristine beaches, it is now seen as a model of responsible tourism, innovation, and global unity. Through the pioneering efforts of leaders like Ahmed Siyam Mohamed and institutions like Sun Siyam Group, the island nation continues to offer the world not just hospitality, but a message of peace and progress.
